Home Recall Watch

Tell it what your household owns. Ask "is anything in my home recalled?" any time, and it checks NHTSA, CPSC and FDA and tells you only what is new.

The MCP side

This page is a real MCP client. It speaks MCP 2025-11-25 over Streamable HTTP to /mcp, streams progress while a home check runs, and hosts the recall card as an MCP App. Any MCP host can use the same server.

How it works

You name the things your household owns: a car by year, make and model or by its VIN, or a product, food, medicine or pet food in the words on its label. The list is kept for your household key, up to 25 things.

When you ask for a check, it looks up every thing on the list against the public US recall data, 4 at a time: NHTSA for cars, CPSC for products, openFDA enforcement reports for food and medicine, and the FDA's own recall feed for pet food. Urgent recalls are spoken first, such as an NHTSA "park it" or "park outside" notice, a CPSC "stop using it" remedy or an FDA Class I recall, each with what to do.

It remembers which recalls it has already told you, so the next check says only what is new. The full list, with each fix and a link to the agency notice, is on the recall card.

Questions

Which recalls does it check?

US recalls only, from NHTSA (cars), CPSC (consumer products), openFDA (food and medicine) and the FDA recall feed (pet food). Recalls from other countries are not in these sources.

What does it keep about my household?

Only the list of things, the ids of recalls it has already told you and the time of the last check. It keeps no name, address or plate. Its store is named by a SHA-256 hash of your household key, so the key itself is never stored.

Does "no recall found" mean my thing is safe?

No. It means the agency data had no match for the words or vehicle you gave. Check the exact model, lot code or VIN on the agency site when it matters.

Can I use it from Alexa+, Claude or another assistant?

Yes. The server speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP at https://recallwatch.openkrill.app/mcp, so any MCP host can call the same tools this page uses.

How do I delete my list?

Say "forget my home list". The tool is marked destructive, so the host asks you to confirm first. "New household" on this page starts a fresh key.
